There's room for travelers on television, beyond Shows about Spain and the world. A new program has just launched to satisfy the curiosity of budget-loving travelers seeking the authentic and adventurous. low cost,
Race Across The World has been airing on BBC One and iPlayer since April 23rd. In this docuseries, 5 teams of 2 people will travel the distance from the starting point in China to the finish line in India.
The Participants
Participants will have to complete the journey of 14,000 kilometers without phones, planes, or bank cards. Additionally, they must pass through 7 checkpoints. There are no shortcuts, as they will not know their next destination until they have completed the previous one.
Along the way, they will experience three of the world's oldest civilizations: China, Nepal, and India. To reach the final destination in Kanyakumari, they will travel overland with the lowest budget ever allocated in the show: 1,140 pounds per person, the equivalent of flying to the destination from London. This means about 22 pounds a day, approximately 25 euros.
Frugality will have its reward: those who reach Kanyakumari first will take home 20,000 pounds.
The Participants
In this season, the five teams consist of quite colorful characters. There's a teenage couple from a town in Wales, a married couple who, after 31 years together, decided to divorce, but now maintain a friendship that allows them to not only travel together but also use their journey through China to help him find a partner. We also have two retired brothers and two young sisters who have traveled extensively. Lastly, a mother and her son, known for forgetting their belongings in hotels on every trip.
It's time to make bets on who will arrive at the destination first and, in the process, take note for signing up for the next season.
