Air Yacht, the flying yacht that allows you to sail the sea and soar through the skies
Can you imagine navigating the sea and soaring through the skies in the same mode of transport? This is the idea pursued by the Lazzarini design studio with their futuristic hybrid between a ship and a dirigible, named Air Yacht.
This innovative project consists of a massive catamaran that is equipped with two dirigibles measuring 150 meters in length. These are connected to the deck by eight 10-meter wide and 80-meter long carbon bridges. The main cabin, which also features a dining area, a lounge, and 360-degree views, is located on this central deck.
The two dirigibles contain five luxurious cabins, each with its own bathroom. Thus, the Air Yacht can accommodate a total of 22 people. Additionally, the views from the dirigibles can be enjoyed through large windows located on the sides.
But that's not all. This prototype includes the possibility of having a helipad and an 8-meter-long swimming pool on the deck.
But how is a technology that allows flying and sailing made a reality? The Air Yacht's aircraft can fly at 111 kilometers per hour for over 48 hours without needing to refuel, thanks to a cell panel with 400,000 cubic meters of compressed helium and eight electric rotors powered by ultralight batteries and solar panels.
On the aquatic side, the Air Yacht's engines are capable of rotating to descend and land on the water. In this mode, it can navigate at a speed of 5 knots, or 9 kilometers per hour, meaning it cannot make long trips, but can approach a port and dock there. Additionally, the bridges connecting the central deck to the dirigibles have a structure that inflates when the aircraft is in the water to be used as a base for navigation.
Thus, this innovative and daring aircraft will be environmentally friendly as it is capable of moving without emitting CO2 into the atmosphere.
But obviously, luxury and cutting-edge technology come at a high price. This flying yacht is just a prototype for now, but if it were to be built, its price would be nothing less than 500 million euros.
