This is the conclusion reached by research conducted by YouGov for Azucarera, which selects the happiest towns to live in different countries.
In the case of Spain, the podium is occupied by towns located in the south, specifically in Andalusia. Among its standout qualities are the climate, the gastronomy, and the proximity to the ocean... elements that, according to the study's authors, positively contribute to well-being and, consequently, happiness.
A Paradise on the Cádiz Coast
The town chosen as the happiest place to live in Spain is Chipiona, in Cádiz. "Its people, its climate, its unique life philosophy, and its gastronomy are just a few of the reasons why interviewees selected this coastal town; while its beauty, natural surroundings, people, and cultural heritage were strong points," according to the study.
The locality is also famous for its extensive beaches and the Chipiona Lighthouse, the tallest in the entire country at a height of 62 meters. Among its highlights is Playa de la Regla, which is over a kilometer long and awarded the Blue Flag distinction.
The Happiness of Living in Málaga
Completing the podium are the Málaga towns of Ronda and Nerja. Besides their unique beauty and heritage attraction, their welcoming atmosphere is also highlighted. Ronda is one of the most recognized white towns, with the El Tajo Gorge being one of the most famous images of Andalusia.
On the other hand, Nerja is known for the Balcony of Europe, one of the icons of the Málaga coastline and one of the most famous viewpoints by the sea in the region. Additionally, this Málaga municipality has some of the best beaches in the area, hidden coves, and wild landscapes that make it one of the top destinations in the region.
