Apple is not settling, as evidenced by its continuous launch of applications for its tech devices. The latest is iTravel, a platform for iPhone and iPad that will allow the tech giant to earn commissions from travel and service bookings, as reported by Hosteltur.
Specifically, this application will be able to consolidate flight, hotel, and car rentals, in addition to offering customers added value once bookings are made, such as ticket upgrades (from economy to first class, for example), room category upgrades in hotels, or offering entertainment alternatives at the destination, among other services.
Although it is not available yet, Hosteltur has announced that iTravel will allow payments using the iPhone or iPad itself, as the new generations of these devices will turn smartphones into virtual wallets.
Therefore, what iTravel will provide is the aggregation of all travel-related application offerings (hotel booking, car rental, flight purchases, ticket purchases, restaurants, shopping, guides...) into a single application.
