The Parador of Cruz de Tejeda, Gran Canaria, has been chosen as the best Parador of Tourism in Spain by users of the travel website Trip Advisor, whose comments contributed to the creation of the Traveller's Choice ranking for Paradores de Turismo, the only ranking dedicated to a single hotel chain that Trip Advisor conducts.

Travelers, Parador clients, who participated with their comments and ratings in the creation of this ranking, have decided that the first place on the podium goes to the Parador of Cruz de Tejeda (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), described by one traveler as "a perfect place to disconnect" and for its "impressive views towards Roque Nublo," among other appreciations.

Following in the ranking are the establishments in Cáceres and Alcalá de Henares, which receive user opinions such as "excellent service, good location, cleanliness, and amenities" in the case of the Extremadura hotel, and the "modern, spacious, comfortable, and well-located" facilities of the Madrid building, according to users of the travel website.

The rest of the list includes, in order, the paradores of La Gomera, which repeats its presence in the ranking compared to last year for its "privileged location, wonderful views, huge rooms, and excellent garden" and that of Úbeda (Jaén), which a user describes as "a wonderful place for its decoration and state of conservation."

In sixth place is the Hostal dos Reis Católicos in Santiago de Compostela for being "a marvelous place," followed by the Malagueño buildings of Antequera, Ronda, and Nerja. In tenth place, we find the Parador of Plasencia, a place "romantic, clean, elegant, luxurious, and with very good service" according to travelers.

The award ceremony took place at the facilities of the Parador of Cruz de Tejeda and included the presence of the president of Paradores de Turismo, Ángeles Alarcó, representatives of the Canary Islands government and the council, Parador directors, and the communication manager of TripAdvisor in Spain, Blanca Zayas. During the event, Alarcó stated she was "especially proud that such an important company in the tourism world recognizes the work and dedication of the staff at Paradores. Gaining the respect and recognition of customers is undoubtedly one of our main objectives."

This is not the first time TripAdvisor has compiled similar rankings based on the experiences of its travelers. In the first edition of the Travellers Choice Awards, establishments in Toledo, Aiguablava (Girona), La Gomera, Cuenca, Nerja (Málaga), Baiona (Pontevedra), Santo Estevo (Ourense), Granada, Lerma (Burgos), and Cardona (Barcelona) were distinguished.

Furthermore, the paradores of Cardona and Jaén were ranked among the top ten best castle-hotels in Europe by users of the website in 2010. The parador of Cardona was then in eighth position on the list "for its atmosphere and the exciting drive up to reception," while Jaén held the tenth position thanks to its "feeling of strength and its spaciousness, allowing guests to stay there without encountering other guests."
