When someone has a wanderlust soul, no matter how many years pass, they will always want to travel. It doesn't matter if you are 15, 30, 50, or 70, you will still feel a need to explore the world. However, while the desire to travel remains the same, the body does not. At 50, you lose the urge to visit overcrowded destinations, where the heat is unbearable or the cold is freezing, and where the noise of the streets is louder than your thoughts. There is a destination that is favored by those over 50, and we will tell you why.

Český Krumlov is a city located in the depths of the Czech Republic, where you can find the most authentic, beautiful, and unspoiled towns in the country.

It has a unique historical charm

This city stands out for its impressive historical heritage. The old town is made up of cobblestone streets and pastel-colored houses, perfect for leisurely strolling while discovering local businesses.

The Český Krumlov Castle, one of the largest in Europe, looms over the city and offers a fascinating journey through history with its mix of architectural styles, from Gothic to Baroque.

Unlike when you are 20 and want to see all the important monuments just to check them off a 'list', when you reach your fifties, you want to stroll and learn quietly, without rush, and Český Krumlov is the ideal place for that.

Endless Culture

The Český Krumlov International Music Festival is one of the most famous musical events in Europe, as it fills the city with concerts and performances during the summer. Dance, music, and theater take over the city in August with the Baroque Night, a celebration that recognizes the splendor of this artistic era with a series of activities that evoke the atmosphere of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Another festival that transports the city back in time is the Five Petals Festival, which pays tribute to the House of Rosenberg, one of the most powerful noble families in Bohemia, through parades, markets, and knight tournaments.

Comfort in the City

There are cities filled with steep streets that you have to climb and descend for sightseeing, like San Francisco, Lisbon, or Granada (where visits to the Albaicín in August can be considered torture). However, Český Krumlov is a relatively flat city, and all the tourist attractions are located in the center, so visitors don't have to travel from one end of the city to the other to discover its charms.

Český Krumlov is the perfect city for a peaceful getaway, and in addition to discovering history and culture, you can also explore the local cuisine, such as goulash or roasted pork.
