Condor Reduces Excess Baggage Costs by Up to 50%
Condor launches a new product that significantly lowers the cost of excess baggage. Anyone who has ever paid for excess baggage knows that those extra kilos can be quite heavy. But now Condor makes it very easy for travelers, saving them long waits and annoying payments at the airport counter.
"Baggage Packages", online
Condor allows all passengers to check in up to 44 lbs (20 kgs) of luggage at no additional cost, and even for passengers bringing their golf or diving gear, up to 66 lbs (30 kgs), as well as for travelers in "Comfort Class" on long-haul flights.
The new "baggage packages" (valid for flights with flight numbers DE) are for excess baggage above these limits and offer savings of up to 50%. The available packages are for 11, 22, 33, or 44 lbs of excess baggage and can be booked online at condor.com along with the flight reservation, or afterward. Prices range from $40 (for 11 lbs of excess baggage on short and medium-haul flights, round trip) to $320 (for 44 lbs of excess baggage on intercontinental flights from Germany, round trip). These discounted rates are valid starting April 1, 2008.
Hand Baggage Rules
To ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, Condor allows one piece of cabin baggage with a maximum weight of 13 lbs (6 kgs) and dimensions not exceeding 22x16x8 inches (55x40x20cm). Cabin baggage weighing more than 13 lbs will be considered excess baggage, and the cabin crew is required, for safety reasons, to place the items in the cargo hold along with the rest of the luggage.
