The World's Tallest Ferris Wheel is in Dubai and Measures 250 Meters

In Dubai, just about 22 minutes from the current tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, which stands at 828 meters, the world's highest observation wheel, Ain Dubai, is set to open soon.

Its opening is scheduled for October 21st and promises 360-degree views of the city from 250 meters high, nearly double that of the legendary London Eye at 135 meters.

Up to 1,750 people can board at once in its 48 spacious cabins, which can even be rented for private events (catering and drinks included). A standard ticket costs about 30 euros and allows for a 38-minute ride.

Each cabin measures 30 square meters and has double glazing, with UV and infrared protection. Up to 40 passengers are allowed inside. They are 2.5 times heavier than those on the London Eye and each has space equivalent to two double-decker buses combined (since we're comparing with London structures).

Its construction has also set records, as it used 11,200 tons of steel, 33% more than was used to build the Eiffel Tower. A total of more than nine million hours were spent on its construction. Its weight, 1,805 tons, is equivalent to four Airbus A380 airplanes.

The Ain Dubai is located in the heart of Bluewaters Island, where residential areas meet entertainment, hospitality, and shopping venues. The construction involved up to 10 countries: from the UAE itself to South Korea, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, France, and Italy.
