Elba is the largest of the islands off the coast of Tuscany and the third largest after Sicily and Sardinia. It is also known for its beautiful Mediterranean beaches and for being the exile place of Napoleon. Now, the island's authorities have launched the "Elba No Rain" initiative. During the month of May, you will receive a refund for your hotel nights if it rains for more than two hours during your stay.

Many hotels and hostels on the island have supported this initiative, which we imagine will attract numerous bookings from tourists eager for rain to get their vacation for free. But remember, to get your money back, it must rain between 10 AM and 8 PM.

Some may think it's highly unlikely to rain on an Italian island in May, but it seems that this year the country is experiencing a very changeable spring, so anything is possible.

With this initiative, the island authorities, in addition to compensating those affected by bad weather, aim to show that Elba is much more than a beach destination and has numerous charming towns and monuments to visit.
