The sale of Imserso trips has started
New travel season for Imserso. The Institute for Seniors and Social Services (Imserso) has begun sending out accreditation letters so that retirees can book their trips for the 2025-2026 season, which has 879,213 spots available. The sale of trips started on October 6 for users residing in Asturias, Catalonia, Castile-La Mancha, Valencia Community, Ceuta, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, La Rioja, Navarra, and Basque Country. Sales opened on October 8 in the remaining autonomous communities (Andalusia, Aragon, Castile and León, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Melilla, and Murcia).
In this new season, the travel agency of Globalia and Barceló, Ávoris, was awarded lot 1, corresponding to the mainland coast where the largest number of spots are offered (440,284) and lot 3, corresponding to the interior and provincial capitals (210,787); while Mundiplan, the temporary union of companies (UTE) of W2M, Alsa, and IAG7 Viajes, took lot 2, which pertains to the island coast (228,142).
The Imserso travel program was created exactly 40 years ago (1985) to promote an active and healthy life for seniors while also neutralizing the seasonal phenomenon of tourism during the so-called 'low season'. Since then, although the main part of the program remains intact, some changes have been made. The main novelty this year is the reservation of 7,447 spots for retirees with lower incomes.
Specifically, retirees who receive a benefit equal to or less than non-contributory retirement and disability pensions (7,905.80 euros annually or 568.70 euros monthly in 14 payments) will have a fixed price of 50 euros per spot.
In addition, for the first time this season, users will also be able to travel with pets, but only on trips to the mainland coast and the islands. Imserso will reserve 2% of the available spots in these destinations for this purpose. A pet is defined as a domestic animal that does not exceed ten kilograms in weight, including the carrier, and animals considered dangerous are expressly prohibited.
