Floating above several platforms on the Hudson River, near the Chelsea coast, a 2.4-hectare island oasis called Little Island will soon open. This project, which has currently cost $250 million, aims to be a gathering place for New Yorkers to enjoy.

This multimillion-dollar public park will open to the public next spring in 2021, featuring a truly impressive landscape: hills, grassy pathways, essentially an idyllic oasis that looks like it's straight out of a movie.

Additionally, this project promises to plant over 100 different species of trees and shrubs to bring life and health to the city, allowing anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of the city to do so surrounded by greenery.

However, the plan is much more ambitious; aside from all the nature that the floating park will feature, 'Little Island' plans to install an amphitheater with a capacity of 700 people where various performances can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Billionaire Barry Diller, who is financing the project with his wife and fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, has assured that this amphitheater aims to be an accessible meeting place for everyone.

That is why they assure that 51% of the tickets will be free to the public, and the remaining tickets will be priced under $30, which could make it an affordable activity to enjoy in New York.

How is this floating park possible?

The design, created by architect Thomas Heatherwick, employs 132 tulip-shaped concrete columns that rise above the water to create this unique and spectacular structure that will make up 'Little Island'.
