The Longest Zip Line in the World is in the United Arab Emirates
Only thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies will truly appreciate the world's longest zip line. It is located at the highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates, Jebel Jais, which stands at an altitude of 1,930 meters, where this aerial giant is situated. It measures exactly 2,830 meters in length, and the bravest can ride it face down, headfirst, in a 'Superman' position.
For almost three minutes, the courageous who launch themselves on the Jebel Jais Flight, as the zip line is called, will traverse nearly three kilometers at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour. That's why some say this zip line is the closest thing to flying like a hawk.
The Jebel Jais Flight is located at an altitude of 1,680 meters above sea level and actually consists of two segments: one of 2,830 meters-the longest in the world-and another of one kilometer. The combination of both segments leaves the passenger at the base of the mountain, providing unique views of the rocky terrain and surrounding desert.
Inaugurated on January 31, 2018, the Jebel Jais Flight is actually part of a larger project that will debut next April, including the creation of two more zip lines and a climbing wall for the most daring to train.
This project is an attempt by the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah, one of the smallest and least known in the United Arab Emirates, where the Jebel Jais Flight is located, to 'compete' with its bigger siblings-Dubai and Abu Dhabi-for attracting tourism. In fact, it is in Dubai where the world's longest urban zip line is located, stretching one kilometer in length.
