Luxury in Sancti Petri: the renovated Gran Meliá shines on the Cadiz Coast
Located in a unique enclave, the Gran Meliá Sancti Petri hotel has just opened its doors after renovating its 227 rooms and suites and common areas. Inspired by architectural gems like the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba and the Alhambra, the hotel stands in an authentic Neo-Mudéjar palace and maintains its Nazarite inspiration with splendid marble patios, Arabic gardens, and several swimming pools.
Half an hour from the city of Cadiz and surrounded by five golf courses, much of the magic of this place is due to its privileged location on the shores of La Barrosa beach, with its kilometers of fine sand that connect the hotel with the most untouched nature.
Gran Meliá Sancti Petri is also home to one of the most internationally recognized restaurants, Alevante, by chef Ángel León, which this season offers guests an exclusive journey alongside the chef of the sea: departing on the chef's own boat to practice surface fishing while sailing through the Bay of Cadiz, enjoying a delicious appetizer on board, and crowning the experience with a grand finale lunch at Aponiente or dinner at Alevante.
Joined with this plan, the hotel has designed a very special moment for wine and culture lovers. The "Tasting of a Thousand Years" is a visit that includes a tasting directly from the barrel of VORS wines; Finos, Amontillados, Palo Cortado, Oloroso Seco, Medio, and Pedro Ximénez - exclusive wines with more than 200 years of history that are the stars of an exceptional tour in one of the most important wineries: Bodegas Osborne.
Gastronomy and Local Products
The fine dining experience is guaranteed at the new Gran Meliá Sancti Petri thanks to its Alevante restaurant, which has a Michelin star and a Sol from the Repsol Guide. Led by Chef of the Sea Ángel León, the restaurant caters to 38 diners and offers a cuisine based on the greatest hits of Aponiente, reflecting its history for which it has been awarded three Michelin stars and three Repsol Soles.
It features two tasting menus: the Grand Menu consisting of 17 dishes (€130) and the Selection Menu including 14 dishes (€110). Both menus offer specialties from the chef such as Adobo Moray Eel, one of the chef's favorite fish, Roasted Oysters, Land and Sea Capers, and Sea Bass Tartare. Both menus also have an option for a unique pairing at €65 and €50 respectively.
Additionally, the Aqua restaurant, which focuses on local rice and fish dishes with views of the Atlantic, complements the great buffet at El Patio, featuring a wide range of international products, showcookings, and themed stalls.
Style and New Decoration
As an essential attribute of Gran Meliá hotels, architecture takes on a special role in this luxury establishment, considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the Andalusian province. The new design initiative for the rooms ranges from the use of warm tones to wooden furniture and a new layout that offers a unique relaxation and comfort atmosphere.
For this reason, its new RedLevel service provides a tailored experience with countless possibilities for the most demanding clients. A special attention and greater intimacy with a private check-in area and exclusive RedLevel pool (adults only).
The restyling and rebranding of this iconic five-star hotel result from various renovations carried out over the past four years. This project has been completed this season for the 20th anniversary of the establishment, maintaining its Andalusian style - like its seven fountains in the main courtyard, the olive trees decorating the plaza, or the terracotta floors - creating a unique atmosphere of elegance and sophistication characteristic of the Gran Meliá brand.
