Madrid Amusement Park: 50 Years of Adrenaline Release
50 years have passed since that day. This year, they are celebrating in style. We walk through those iconic iron gates. Welcome to the World of Wonders. Even Alice herself wouldn't miss out on the summer afternoon adventures. The host is Napy, the most stylish bear from Madrid, who has returned to Spain's first amusement park to welcome all visitors. No day is missed. We are glad to see you again.
Postcards for Remembrance
For the nostalgic, the temporary exhibition of historical photographs is a must-see. Until September 2, black and white and color photos are available. A journey through the park's history from 1969 to the present day. How we've changed. In the exhibit, we can remember those attractions that once impressed us. The most memorable ones, 7 Picos or Galactic Trip. Recognizing ourselves in the concerts of the Madrid movement and bringing back memories of the Grand Theater Auditorium, which reopens its doors.
We watch life pass by in the Passage of Terror. And on the legendary 7 Picos. How can we forget it? Today there is only one car left for remembrance. It was the first major roller coaster built in Spain and one of the largest in Europe at the time. Its name referred to the Guadarrama mountain range. It made its last journey in 2005.
Look, do you remember? It's one of the most heard phrases in the exhibit. It's impossible not to pull from those years when we see the images of Flying Saucer, which made its debut on the big screen. In 'The Father of the Creature,' Paco Martínez Soria and Florinda Chico share a coffee in the now-defunct attraction. Locations for nostalgia, like the Mississippi Boat.
Releasing Tension
We are never quite prepared to go up there. And yet, here we go. We swallow hard. And we will regret it quietly for having gone up just seconds before falling into the void. Only the bravest will dare to face Abismo, the free fall of 63 meters of The Launcher, Tornado, Top Spin, or The Machine. Many strong emotions in just one day. That's what summers in Madrid are all about.
The line for Abismo never ceases. The crowd gathered gives us a hint of the park's favorite ride. We are left with these two numbers. 49. These are the meters of height we go up. 100. Kilometers per hour. This is the speed it reaches. A ride not suitable for the faint of heart. In the air, unreadable figures emerge: corkscrews, inversions, and hills. Some even repeat the experience.
Vintage Attractions
The Carousel is the only ride that keeps spinning after half a century. It comes from France and dates back to 1927. A handcrafted wooden piece. This was our childhood. A carousel spinning and a cotton candy larger than us in hand.
The high temperatures are not felt on The Rapids, The Fjords, or The Sawmill. We cool off while revving up. Kids spend the day with Patrick's Jellyfish and get soaked with SpongeBob in The Water Games, venture into the adventures of Dora the Explorer, and fly in balloons just like the real ones.
The outdoor musical shows cater to all audiences. We enjoy the Rock Battle and The Blues Brothers show. Look, here are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We encounter them up close along with other childhood characters. This is how the park's streets breathe.
Mario Sandoval and the San Isidro Market
We didn't expect to encounter a 2 Michelin star chef here. We were wrong. To recharge, we take a break at the Market restaurant. There awaits us the menu from Mario Sandoval. Very Madrid and healthy dishes in tapas format. We try the Pork Crackling Cubes, Madrilenian Tripe, and Iberian Ribs.
Once we gather our strength, the only Paw Patrol roller coaster in Europe awaits, the Zeppelin or The Flying Chairs. We become kids again for a few hours. Here, Casa de Campo has its own skyline. Roller coasters and attractions that will give us goosebumps. Just as they have for the last 50 years.
