Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovative cruise company with a 55-year history of breaking boundaries, has received its newest ship, the Norwegian Prima, in Marghera, Venice, at the renowned Fincantieri shipyard. An anticipated milestone marking the arrival of the first ship in the Prima Class of NCL, which will see the delivery of six more new ships of this type by 2027.

But we are not talking about just any ship, nor any experience. We are talking about a vessel that is over 295 meters long, weighing 142,500 gross tons, and capable of accommodating 3,100 guests where comfort and excellence come first. In fact, just a quick glance makes it clear that this is not an ordinary cruise.

If this new ship stands out for anything, it is undoubtedly for proclaiming itself as one of the most spacious contemporary category cruise ships, having one of the largest and most impressive deck spaces on the planet where the first level is evident from every detail. But it's not just the exterior that shines; its interiors are designed for travelers to enjoy one of the most complete experiences at sea.

But... what if we told you that this ship has a go-kart track on the top deck? Yes, you heard that right. This ship allows us to race on the world's first three-level racetrack at sea called the Prima Speedway. But that's not all, as this ship features a genuine water park on its exterior with slides called The Drop that lets us glide down from a height of 10 stories, experiencing more G-forces than a Formula 1 racing car accelerating.

Other highlights on board include Ocean Boulevard, which wraps around the entire deck; that's over 4,087 square meters, allowing guests to connect with the ocean while enjoying outdoor dining and unique experiences. Guests will also be able to relax at Infinity Beach, which features two stunning infinity pools located near sea level for uninterrupted views of the vast ocean, as well as Oceanwalk, where two glass bridges will make guests feel like they are walking in the air above the water.

The Norwegian Prima will also feature an oasis for art lovers, The Concourse, the first outdoor sculpture garden at sea with six installations created by international metal artist Alexander Krivosheiw and an art wall designed by David Harber.

With its launch this August, the Norwegian Prima will be the first major cruise ship christened in Iceland, starting its inaugural eight-day journey from the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik on August 27, 2022, sailing to Amsterdam. Worldwide pop star Katy Perry, who serves as the godmother of the Norwegian Prima, will honor the maritime tradition of blessing and officially naming the ship, as well as performing during the christening ceremony.
