Spanair, the Airline That Has Grown the Most in Europe
The European airline industry has regained its momentum after significant declines caused by the September 11 terrorist attacks, growing by 6.3% in 2005, according to data from the European Airline Association (AEA), which translates to 13 million more passengers than in 2004. The company that experienced the highest increase in passenger traffic in the Old Continent was Spanair, which transported 6.85 million passengers in 2005, marking a 21.4% increase from the previous year, followed by Turkish Airlines with 13.69 million passengers, a 20.4% increase, and Icelandair with 1.52 million passengers, a rise of 14.7%.
