After the holiday feasting, the overindulgence of grapes, and the start of the year, many people have already begun their famous list of resolutions for 2025. Among them, the desire to TRAVEL stands out, a goal we all set for ourselves, but which often fades as the year goes on. Whether it's due to a tighter budget or simply not having time for a big getaway, there's always an excuse when it comes to organizing a trip.

But don't worry, because that's why I'm here. I've got, fresh out of the oven, five destinations that are perfect for a getaway in January. Don't worry, I've already done my research, and all the destinations have my favorite certification: the 3 "b's", good, beautiful, and cheap.

The Old and Reliable: Italy

My first trip outside of Spain was to Rome, so Italy will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm sharing this because when I traveled there, I had just started university, and my budget was much tighter than now. That's why I assure you that a trip to Italy in January - or any time of year, to be honest - is a great choice. Rome is a wonder that you can't miss; its streets and monuments make it an ideal city for a weekend escape. However, if you want to be smart and avoid any tourist traps, book everything before your trip. Here's a great guide on "How to organize a 'low cost' trip to Rome".

Right now, we can find round-trip flights to Rome in January for just 37 euros, but don't worry if you've been before; I've researched and your other options for visiting Italy economically are: Venice for 45 euros round trip, and Milan for 35 euros. All three destinations are wonderful for enjoying Italian cuisine and beginning the year wonderfully without breaking the bank.

The Czech Republic and its "City of a Hundred Towers"

Another destination that I find is perfect for this January is Prague, in the Czech Republic. For just 59 euros, you can get a round-trip flight to the city known as the City of a Hundred Towers. A trip to Prague is incredible from the first minute you step into the city. This capital boasts unmatched beauty with majestic buildings that perfectly blend various arts. And we can't forget that it was one of the most important capitals in Europe during the 18th century. It's inevitable that, if you travel to Prague, you'll encounter history: it's the birthplace of Franz Kafka, one of the most influential Bohemian writers in universal literature; many will recognize and have read the famous "Metamorphosis" by Kafka.

Among many other secrets, Prague stands out as one of the perfect destinations this January where you won't spend much on a getaway. Moreover, any savings from flights and accommodations can be spent on beer! Don't miss the opportunity to start the year in such a monumental city as Prague. Additionally, you're still in time to enjoy a little more of Christmas. Prague is known for its famous Christmas markets; if you go in January, you will still have the chance to visit one without the holiday crowds. Here's a guide to the ten must-see spots you have to include in your travel plans.

Austria, a Land of Emperors

In my tireless obsession with the Empress of Austria, Elisabeth of Bavaria - better known as Sissi - I traveled to Vienna last year around this time for a very low price. Now that I checked flights again, I find that it's only about 60 euros for a round trip to the most beautiful city in the world. I won't lie, I've really been tempted to book them. Vienna is certainly one of those must-do trips for any traveler.

Its facades, palaces, and gastronomy - its star dish is the breaded veal cutlet; can anyone be happier than enjoying that? - everything about Vienna makes it the perfect European capital for any time of year. If you go in winter, dress warmly, because this city is best explored on foot, and every street is a visual delight. The connectivity of its public transportation, its history... I need to visit again soon.

But, do you know who can enjoy all this in January for just a 60 euro flight? You. If you choose Vienna as your first trip of the year, you'll start 2025 off on the right foot, trust me; last year was great for me. Here's a detailed guide I made of my trip to Vienna for Sissi lovers. Even if you're not a fan of the empress like I am, it's worth checking out because it includes some of the most essential stops in the capital.

British Getaway: London

Another destination that is quite "handy" for us in Spain is the world-famous London. No one dares to say no to a getaway to the British capital. London is almost cinematic; we've probably seen this city on television far more often than we will see it in person. This nerve center of art, shopping, entertainment, and fashion is just a flight away for 40 euros round trip. The real challenge will be finding accommodation, but with some patience, you can find many options, and I assure you that planning a trip requires a lot of that.

This city offers so many options that a weekend might feel too short; however, there are certain spots you can't miss, and that's why I've created a guide with all the must-see spots in the quintessential British city so you don't miss any. Don't let 2025 pass without leaving Europe because remember that England is no longer part of the European Union, and you'll need a passport to cross its borders.

A Viking Destination: Denmark

Wrapping up this wonderful list of cheap places to travel to in January, we find a fantastic destination that began as a Viking village on the eastern coast of Zealand. I'm talking about Copenhagen, an incredible city you can visit for only €83, which is the price for a round-trip flight. This Danish city, filled with neoclassical style and harbor streets, is known for several things, including its iconic landmark, one of the most famous childhood figures in the world: The Little Mermaid by author Hans Christian Andersen. This Danish author, who fled to the grand city of Copenhagen as a child, is also known for his children's tale The Ugly Duckling. Thus, Copenhagen is enveloped in a genuine sense of fantasy.

Another of the well-known sights of Copenhagen is the canals of Nyhavn, in an area of harbor streets where it's common to sit and enjoy a drink despite the cold. The view is undoubtedly unique. Taking the opportunity to visit Denmark and explore Copenhagen is a pleasure that every traveler should experience at least once in their lives. Having flights to Copenhagen for €83 is a "bargain" that I wouldn't let slip away, and finding affordable hotel options isn't difficult.

Have any of these destinations convinced you? I find them all attractive; with those flight prices, I wish I had every weekend in January available to visit each one of them. I've provided all the necessary information for planning your most special 2025 budget getaway, don't miss the opportunity to start the year traveling; I assure you there's no better way to kick it off.
