Thomas Cook Airlines, the Second Largest Leisure Airline in the United Kingdom
Coinciding with the start of the summer season, Thomas Cook, one of the largest travel groups in Europe, has just launched a new airline that, under the name of Thomas Cook Airlines, has become the second largest leisure airline in the United Kingdom. Its establishment is one of the results of the merger between Thomas Cook AG and My Travel Group plc that took place in June 2007.
Thomas Cook Airlines, which has a fleet of 42 aircraft, will serve a total of 78 destinations from its 11 bases in the United Kingdom. The workforce of the new airline will consist of 600 pilots and 2,000 cabin crew members.
Forecasts for the upcoming summer season estimate that, due to the new services offered by Thomas Cook Airlines, the Thomas Cook Group and its various tour operators will be able to serve 2.9 million passengers who will take a total of 125,000 flight hours.
