Best Disney Park According to an Italian Traveler
It has been a century since the first Disney characters appeared on screens for the first time, with none of their creators imagining even a quarter of the fame they would achieve. Mickey Mouse was not the first to be born; that honor goes to Oswald, the Lucky Rabbit, for which the renowned Walt Disney studio lost copyright in 1925. The entire world gradually became an absolute fan of the funny mouse and his friends.
He was followed by the characters that would star in the first feature films: Snow White in 1937, Pinocchio in 1940, Dumbo in 1941, Bambi in 1942, Cinderella in 1950, Alice in 1951, Peter Pan in 1953, and Lady and the Tramp in 1955. Those original creations led the entrepreneur and artist to amass a fortune that helped him launch a plan he had been dreaming about since the 1940s: a theme park for the entertainment of his employees and family.
The Creation of Theme Parks
The first park opened in 1955, albeit with a modesty that does not characterize the current ones. The original was Disneyland in California. A few years later it passed away, and thus the legend was born. Gradually, a series of theme parks have been built around the world, in Paris, Orlando, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Tokyo. Each has its own peculiarities, from different hours and prices to unique foods and souvenirs.
The Italian traveler, owner of the Instagram account @thetravelization, has visited almost all the parks - she only has Shanghai left - and has chosen the best: "After visiting five Disney parks around the world, we can confidently say that Tokyo (including DisneySea) is the most beautiful of all time." According to the Instagrammer, the reasons are the price, the atmosphere, the food, the attractions, and the parades. A perfect combination to shape the first park that was erected outside of America.
What is Tokyo Disney Resort Like?
The Price
The entry fee, as mentioned, is the cheapest compared to the other parks. A one-day pass for an adult costs 48 euros, for juniors - ages 12 to 17 - 40 euros, and for children - ages 4 to 11 - 29 euros. With this ticket, you can enjoy Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea for a full day during opening hours, from eight in the morning to ten at night.
Fixed-date and time tickets range from 39 euros for adults, 32 for juniors, and 23 for children. Tickets for DisneySea are purchased separately and have the same prices, so visiting both parks would cost double, between 96 and 78 euros.
The Atmosphere
The second point highlighted by the Italian is the elaborate atmosphere. The themed areas consist of both dining and shopping as well as attractions. The World Bazaar is the area for shops and restaurants, inspired by an early 20th-century American city. Also inspired by ancient America, though this time from the Wild West, is Westerland. The place where cultures converge is Adventureland, with touches of Asia, Africa, tropical islands...
Tomorrowland is the land of tomorrow, decorated with futuristic and space themes. In contrast, Toontown is where Mickey and his friends "live, work, and play." The home of the classic characters and the fantasy that Disney is so known for is in Fantasyland. The refuge of friendly and mysterious creatures is Critter Country. In their own words, "in a single trip, you can visit Belle's French village and the Beast's castle, as well as Ariel's underwater world in DisneySea."
This independent park has been the center of attention since its opening in 2001. Instead of lands, it is divided into eight ports that revolve around the Mysterious Island: Port Discovery, Lost River Delta, Mermaid Lagoon, American Waterfront, Mysterious Island, Arabian Coast, and Mediterranean Harbor. Everything is themed around the sea, between Europe, America, and Disney's imaginary worlds, complete with a harbor city and Venetian gondolas.
The Food
The seed that Walt Disney planted with the first park marked a clear idea: to escape reality by diving into imagination. Over the years, it has been refined to the point of recreating food from the movies or foods shaped like characters, such as Toy Story alien mochi, Mickey Mouse-shaped pizza, an ice cream shaped like Ariel's shell, or a cake shaped like Rapunzel's braid.
The Attractions
Like the rest of the parks, this one features classic attractions such as Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain, or The Haunted Mansion. But it also has some exclusives like Star Tours, based on Star Wars, Ride and Go Seek! from Monsters, Inc. or Pooh's Hunny Hunt from Winnie the Pooh. DisneySea also has some unique attractions such as Journey to the Center of the Earth, Finding Nemo and Friends Seaside Adventure, Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull, or the King Triton concert.
The Parades
Shows are a daily occurrence. Some change with the seasons while others remain constant throughout the year, such as Mickey's Musical World or the Colorful Sky, a fireworks show set to Disney songs. When night falls, Tokyo lights up. All theme parks around the world dress up with their best finery. The Tokyo Disneyland Electric Parade Dreamlight parade lights up the fictional streets with its spectacular floats featuring extraordinary designs, music, dancers, and, of course, the iconic characters greeting young and old alike.
