The movie, which premieres in theaters on June 26, tells the story of Inga, a middle-aged farmer who rebels against a powerful local cooperative and seeks to rally support among other farmers to expose the corruption of the cooperative.

But it won't be easy for her, as in a place dominated by fear... anyone who stands up must challenge the dependency tie that connects the community to the cooperative monopoly.

This film showcases remote areas, with lives centered around farms and their animals. And of course, it is set in Skagafjörður, Iceland. Here is where the only cooperative that still exists in the entire country is located. This cooperative was part of a movement that began in the 19th century, but it is the only one that survives... the rest were shut down in the 90s.

This cooperative owns everything, even the local newspaper, and reminds us a bit of those closed societies that maintain everything from their powerful structure. Thus, this film will try to tell the story and political reality of a very specific region of Iceland.

But that isn't the only thing the movie addresses. Through Inga, the protagonist, a woman who decides to fight against the corruption that exploits her community, it will also discuss Icelandic society in general.

As its director and screenwriter, Grímur Hákonarson, says, "we are small so we tend to monopolize, there are a few who control everything and the rest are simply exploited." And that is precisely what this movie wants to show us: that there are small rebellions that can change entire societies.

The landscapes of the movie are like this
